Achieving success and fulfilling our ambitions requires a proactive approach. In my recently released book “Quantum Behaviours” I share many ways to get out of the rot and start to touch our true potential. But much content was not shared in the book to keep it as light and easy to read as possible. For those who want more, let me introduce you to my revolutionary “50–40–30 Rule,” a Wild “To-Do List” designed to push laziness out of your life and improve things like career, opportunities and even relationships.
This method empowers you to take consistent and purposeful actions every week, even if you are in the toilet or watching Netflix. As long as your hands are empty, following it can lead to exponential growth and unparalleled opportunities.
Let’s delve into the details of this crazy game-changing method I always share with my clients in the first strategic sessions:
Have you ever heard of this Principle? The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule) is a phenomenon that states that around 80% of outcomes come from 20% of causes. This was first discovered by Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto in 1896. Pareto observed that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by only 20% of the population. Upon close inspection, he realised this happening with plants in his garden — 20% of his plants were bearing 80% of the fruit. Following this analogy, if you try 100 actions for something (for example, to get a job), only 20 of those actions will lead to successful results. Apply to 100 Jobs, get 20 replies.
Some examples of this effect are:
1 - Business Sales: In many businesses, around 80% of the total revenue is generated by 20% of the top-performing customers or clients.
2 - Time Management: The Pareto Principle can be applied to productivity, where 80% of your results come from focusing on the most important 20% of tasks.
3 - Inventory Management: Often, approximately 80% of sales come from 20% of the products in a company’s inventory, highlighting the importance of prioritising those high-demand items.
4 - Marketing: In marketing campaigns, 80% of the results might come from the top 20% of marketing channels or strategies, leading businesses to focus on the most effective channels.
5 - Employee Performance: In a company, 80% of the value or contributions may come from the top 20% of the most effective and skilled employees.
You get the idea, of course, this is a rough estimation. It won’t always be a fixed 80/20, but an approximation to those numbers. But what to do when you do not know which actions will be the right ones? What can you do when you lack guidance or clarity towards your goal?
Ironically, I tell my clients to aim everywhere (within a contained frame). Let me give a better example of this:
Imagine you are trapped in a glass box, the air capacity is tight, and no effort seems to work in order to escape. Based on statistics and behavioural science, most people will scream, hit the walls and ultimately sit and wait for somebody to rescue them after giving up. A few individuals will be smarter, analyse the box carefully and by the time they think they found the solution, they’ll pass out from lack of oxygen. Then you’ll have the smallest number of individuals who will try absolutely everything and discard based on experience.
These are my “Pareto people” (awful name, I know). They believe that by aiming and trying absolutely everything, something will ultimately lead to a result before the oxygen is over.
From 100 actions they try within the box, roughly 20 of those actions will be the correct ones. At the end of the day, all you need is a crack in the glass to get your answer. Once you have your small crack there, you know where to aim and place the rest of your energies.
Here is where the 50/40/30 method comes in place.
During the time I was writing “Quantum Behaviours”, I had to continue working on my own sales, marketing, management and needs of my own Agency. Since life always got in the way, and I barely had time to make money, sometimes I would find myself wondering how to find new customers and how to continue posting on Social Media and being “alive” in the digital environment. I developed this method under the statistics of:
If in every ten actions, two are useful, let’s aim everywhere with more than 100, creating an infinite amount of opportunities.
This means doing 50 + 40 + 30 + 20 + 10 actions on different fields, which leads to 150 actions and then adding some more personal ones, 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1, making a total of 150 + 15 actions per week/ half month or full month.
This means that, done weekly, you will make 660 actions, from which 132 should be successful (20% based on the 80/20 principle). Call that a challenge!
My list would look something like this:
[R] 0/50 Messages sent on Social Media to new followers/strangers
[E] 0/40 Interested People reached out about a project
[P] 0/30 applications sent for new jobs/clients/opportunities
[U] 0/20 actions made to improve my current company
[T] 0/10 New SEO actions made or articles written
[A] 0/5 New Prospects/leads obtained
[T] 0/4 Offers sent to old customers
[I] 0/3 Reviews obtained
[O] 0/2 Clients offered a “Premium” or better Package
[N] 0/1 Expense reduced
Like everything in my books, you should adapt these ideas to your own terrain and replace, adapt or change it based on your conditions. To bring more options into each category, let’s analyse each of them. I call the whole process the R-E-P-U-T-A-T-I-O-N system since ultimately it will make your goal easy to obtain due to all the actions elevating who you are.
Based on how many times you choose to use this method, challenge yourself to send 50 “semi-personalised” messages on social media to potential clients and companies. Showcase your value, services, or products while maintaining a positive attitude. Embrace the fact that not every prospect will respond positively. Rejections are not personal; they simply mean the timing might not be right. Keep persisting, and remember, success lies in perseverance.
Examples include New followers on social media, Making new LinkedIn connections, and random people following your competitors or companies you would like to cooperate with, this is the “Cold Calling” step.
